Unexpected Cancellation

I made a booking last November (5 months ago) at Tasha's Apartments on Morphett for this weekend's AFL Gather Round. Today, I received an email advising that "unfortunately, Tasha's Apartments on Morphett cannot honor your upcoming booking on 4/14/2023". Upon contacting the 3rd party provider, I was informed that they were unfortunately overbooked. Whilst there may be a legitimate reason for such occurrence, it is certainly open to interpretation that Tasha's Apartments are being disingenuous and opportunistic in cancelling our booking and rebooking the apartment at an inflated tariff to another party, in order to take advantage of the demand for accommodation in Adelaide for the weekend.

Despite booking over 30 days in advance the manager of the apartment contacted me just a day or two before the stay to tell me the apartment was not available. She said other people had been booked in. She had even emailed me in the preceeding weeks to confirm parking. What a disgusting situation. The alternative accommodation we had to stay in at short notice was loud, noisy and the whole weekend messed up.

Interesting stay. It is a bit like dealing with a computer program. Booking on internet only, the apartment in is a complex called Vision, no Tasha's signage anywhere yet their web site suggests that they are some kind of hotel not an AirBNB. SMS gives you the log in to the front door and the code to get a key out of the mailbox. If you google Vision Apartments, you will get a unit in the same complex with a human and a check in desk, although its on level 2 - go figure. But at least Vision offer serviced apartments. The apartment itself is a standard one bedder, the bed is very soft so if you like firm you are out of luck. Cleanliness is poor, the place looked unvacuumed on our arrival. Its a shame, this could be a five star review with a little personal touch and a vacuum. The complex itself is very well located near the Central Market and Bus Terminal.

This is a virtual "hotel". Tasha's has a few apartments in a large building called Vision on Morphett. Having booked 6 month's before, one day before arriving, we were informed by e-mail that the 1 bedroom apartment we reserved was "unavailable" and we were being shifted to a small "studio". No offer of any price reduction or anything. The studio had one wardrobe that was about 40cm (16 inches) wide. At the bottom of it, they stored the vacuum cleaner in a box and other stuff. There was no shelf space. The mattress sloped down at the sides. There was insufficient room to walk around the bed on one side. The kitchenette was small. There was a microwave, toaster, cooktop, but very little room for anything else. We had to store the toaster on top of the microwave to get a bit of working space. There is no human contact. You pick up a key from a locked letterbox and drop it off there at the end. The property "manager" never answers her phone - not even calls from travel agents. The balcony glass did block much of the construction noise around.
